Welcome to Year 1
Welcome to the exciting world of Year One! This is a very important year, making the transition from the Reception curriculum to working in Key Stage One. We have lots of exciting learning to do this year and lots of challenges to tackle. Our topics include Who am I?, Isambard Kingdom Brunel, Neil Armstrong, Countries in the UK and many more! We will be inviting visitors in and going out to different places to help our learning come to life.
A big part of Year 1 is phonics and using our amazing knowledge of sounds to help us become very confident readers. Reading five times a week at home will really help us with this and we can win special prizes. We also try and learn to join our writing by the end of this year so we do a lot of practising in lots of different ways.
We are looking forward to working with you all throughout this year. Don’t forget, if you have any questions about anything in Year 1 please ask us at the door or leave a message at the Office.
