Due to the new restrictions implemented by the government we will once again be providing remote education to the majority of our pupils. A copy of Robert Le Kyng’s Home Learning Policy is now available on the website.
Since the first lockdown in March last year, we as a school have developed a more robust and consistent home learning offer that we are confident will enable our children to continue to learn effectively during this period of school closure.
All home learning will be uploaded onto Purple Mash so your child can quickly and easily access their learning. If you have any issues with logging in to Purple Mash or have lost login details please contact the school office.
Weekly home learning will include:
-Daily sequenced Maths lessons from White Rose Maths and accompanying worksheets with answer sheets.
-Daily English lessons and accompanying tasks.
-Daily spelling tasks.
-Daily times tables practice (Please contact the office for any login issues with Times Table Rockstars)
-Daily foundation subjects
We also continue to expect children to read at least 5 times a week to an adult.
Early Years Foundation Stage home learning will be organized similarly to that in Years 1-6, but tasks and activities will be suited to the pupils’ age and developmental needs.
Each class teacher has set up a home learning blog on Purple Mash for their class. Children can use this to communicate directly with their teacher and classmates about any questions or difficulties they may have with a piece of work. Teachers will also use this blog to post teaching videos and to give feedback or address misconceptions or difficulties. To find the class blog on Purple Mash select ‘Sharing’ on the top tool bar and then select ‘Shared Blogs’.
Mrs Barnard has also uploaded some ‘How to’ guides on using Purple Mash on to the school website.
Some home learning activities will be uploaded at the beginning of the week and some will be uploaded on a day-by-day basis.
It is by no means expected that all sheets need to be printed off and completed-much of the work can be completed from the screen or via Purple Mash and then submitted for feedback from the teacher.
All home learning will be available as hard copies that can be collected from the school office. Please contact the office if you would like hard copies prepared for your child.
We are aware that some of you may wish for your child to access this learning online but do not have an appropriate device. The school has a few laptops that can be loaned for this purpose. If you would like to discuss this, please contact Mrs Fisher on email@example.com. We also are available to provide exercise books and pens/pencils if they are required. Please contact the office so this can be arranged.
We very much hope that this round of school closures will be short-lived and we hope to see you all again soon.
